With a severe drought most of the summer here in CO, the wildfires have been persistent. The hazy sunset is a reminder of the harsh environment out here. Fall colors are already beginning to show and I am curious to see how the lack of water will effect the changing leaves.

I keep hoping for some rains and soon. I have seen a dry fall up here in the NW and the colors are pretty dull compared to years with some late Aug/early Sept. rains. Cheer up - your visibility in this image is a lot better than what we are seeing in the NW right now. We are down to 5 miles visibility with air quality advisories until at least Wednesday.

Hey Tyler, this is a very nice view off the Last Dollar Road. I like that soft side light, it works.

Yes, your image shows a very distressed forest, the browning dead trees are a giveaway, both in the foreground and the higher elevations.
Looks like the conifers are dying, once evergreens brown out they don't recover.
sorry!

Trees are just starting to change along 285 (Kenosha & Guanella Passes). There's a rather stunning amount of beetle kill south of Kenosha. Though it didn't smell like smoke yesterday, it was completely hazy & on the radio they blamed the wildfires in the US & Canada.

Thanks Jim, the 70-200 is a fun lens to use. The lighting was beautiful.
