Liquid Symphony

"Liquid Symphony"

I just came back from what is now a yearly tradition family trip to Yosemite. I prefer going during the winter/fall time to avoid the crowds and heavy discount on lodging. My kids love Yosemite and are always excited to go. I didn't take that many landscape shots as its an ongoing process on how to balance out family time and my time.

Annnyyhoooo, my shot "Liquid Symphony". It was shot late morning with a 600mm at Upper Yosemite Falls. When the light catches the falls at the right angle, usually you get a nice rainbow or some nice iridescent colors on the wet walls. I got sort of an in-between, dancing wavy color show. It sort of reminded me of the feelings I get when I view "Northern Lights" shots (I've never seen in person, which I very much want to). I really want to illustrate the colors but also the contrast in the walls as well.

Very cool Jason! Yeah, the off season is a great time to visit Yosemite.

I think the glow of the colors is perhaps even more intriguing perhaps then a rainbow off the water. Viewing the transforming of the colors across the water is really interesting.

The rainbow mist is neat and I like the way the colored mist spreads out at the bottom.

I have almost given up on even taking my DSLR gear along if my wife is with me since photography is not exactly entertaining for anyone but you once the tripod legs get splayed out.

The colors from the refracted light against the background is very interesting. And an appropriate title as well.

My first thought was to suggest a crop off both sides, but the longer I contemplated the more interesting the "wall" became.
Congrats on this stellar image Jason.
