Oh boy Ryan, I really missed out! I had gotten some really nice clouds earlier in the afternoon up at Huntington Beach, but left a couple of hours before sunset. I am guessing I should have stuck around longer.

I like the details, the rocks are so cool in that area. and to be surrounded by all of that color is really special.

BTW, I usually won't go when the water is that low, I prefer the tide to be a foot higher so its then pouring over those rocks in the foreground. Of course that means that when I am leaving the water is getting close to hip deep to get out of that area, but I know it, so I always plan for it so it's not a big deal. I am so used to getting wet there, if I don't I figure I must of messed up...

I like those clouds - that sets up some really nice colors to go along with the interesting rocky foreground.

I can't see enough beautiful sky and ocean with that rock there, what's the deal? ;)
I have great respect for the ocean, photography is a total distraction, so be diligent and never turn your back to the ocean unless your running.
Ryan your image is dripping with drama, stunning...

There is so much good going on here, i think this is what kinda hurts it as well, the FG is great, but a bit dominant, and i miss a lot of that gorgeous sky, i would probably shoot low from the left side, with those beautiful curves in FG, giving the sky more room in the frame, still, beautiful work.

Cheers!

Thanks all. There are a ton of comps to be had there. I will have to make sure @JimFox goes with me next time, so we can wade knee deep back together.

:D

Ha ha, yep, I will keep an eye on the conditions there, the next time it gets to the right tide level I like, I will give you a call.

Hey Andrey, as Ryan mentions there are lot's of possibilities there as those foreground rock area has so many variations to it. One thing I will say is that arch opening quickly closes off by moving too much to the left. I have shot it from the left more and you can get more sky but if you aren't careful you lose the arch which is maybe 50% of the reason a person walks all the way down here.

It's not a bad hike, but there is no direct path to here unless you own one of the 10 million dollar homes on the cliffs behind. Other wise it's traipsing down the coast through 3 separate coves with each one getting land locked if the tide gets too high. So it's a fun adventure!
