M106 and the surrounding neighbourhood

We have actually had 3 clear nights in a row! This one was taken during the first night.
The main galaxy in this image is M106. The small galaxy just to the right of M106 is NGC4248, and the larger edge on galaxy towards the bottom is NGC4217. I have cropped the image to highlight the star field around NGC4217, which I thought was rather lovely.

Congrats on 3 nights in a row of clear skies. I just got to Colorado and it's cloudy here. I hope to get out next week for a night or two.

I like how you captured this. You got some really great detail in M106. I like that you included NGC4217 as well. I like on edge galaxies.

Thanks Jim, those stars around NGC4217 just draw the eyes.

Great image. Having just shot that myself I can testify as to how difficult it is to process it well! Has a very strong core with great detail and then very feint spiral arms that are hard to bring out without introducing noise. You’ve done it well! Love the wide field view too

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Must admit, I do find galaxy processing quite challenging anyway.
