M33

Last year was the first time I captured M33 using a dslr and star adventure 2i. Here's my second attempt this year using a dedicated astro cam and other upgraded gear (GTi, EAF).

Redcat 51, asi533mc pro (gain 101, -10C), Star adventure GTi, Asiair plus, guided, EAF.
Optolong L-pro, 100x180" subs, Calibration frames; darks, flats, bias, Bortle 5+, processed in Pixinisight.

It was suggested to add my previous attempt to the thread to give an idea of progress since last year (second image). I was quite happy with my first attempt but I think my second try is much better.

Awesome work John! If you were like me, you enjoyed your astro work with a DSLR, but I have to say that upgrading to a dedicated astro camera makes such a difference.

Thanks Jim. I did and do like my dslr (Nikon D5500) and a lens. The astro camera has certainly made a significant difference. I got the GTi and thought I might sell my star adventure 2i but decided against that and set it up with the camera and lens. So know I have two astrophotography rigs to play with! Plus my other two visual dobs...

That's really great, I hear you about 2 set ups. I still have my Sky Guider Pro, but haven't used it since I got the iOptron Gem28. I may have forgotten how to use the Sky Guider....

I have the Seestar S50 from ZWO coming in next month, so it will be my 2nd rig. Though I am seriously thinking about getting the AM5 mount from ZWO for Christmas. But still just thinking about that one.

Very nice! Not the easiest target as it is big but faint. I love this version - you should post the previous one to this thread as well - always fun to compare and see how your capabilities are progressing.
