Magnificent Machinery

A quick trip to FL was highlighted by a visit to Kennedy Space Center. The lighting at the Saturn V Center was dark with mixed lighting, and made for some wonky colors, which originally convinced my to try this as a B&W composition. I really liked it much better once I saw it that way. I decided to also turn it to a vertical orientation, as it seemed to highlight the shapes involved in a more dramatic way.

Of course, I am far from an experienced B&W shooter / developer, so comments and constructive feedback are always welcome.

As an Engineer I have major respect for the design and analysis work involved to get something this complex to be reliable enough for manned spaceflight. Yikes, that's a lot of parts! Those guys were really good!!!

This sure looks pretty cool Mike. What an interesting place to visit. I like this as a vertical and in B&W.

Kinda science fictiony, I like the comp and contrast processing. My only nit might be the white floor distracts me from the machinery a little.

i'm jealous. i've always wanted to go to the kennedy space center, but always ended up on the other side of the state visiting my grandparents or brother. beautiful b&w tones, love the details of the engines.

Thanks everyone!

This was my first visit (even though I loved in Jacksonville from 1983 into 1986) and I did not realize all the exhibits and cool tours they had available down there. Definitely worth visiting, and the highlight of our 1 week trip to FL.

Jim,

yes I know what you mean. I could possibly try to tone down the white foreground a bit perhaps. I am such a newbie at B&W processing that the types of edits that I would think of immediately ona color image never cross my mind on B&W. Thanks for the constructive feedback!

To me, A telltale sign of a great tonal job on B&W is that the whites are very white and the blacks are very black. Which you dod very well!
Great job on this.
