This guy was hanging out in this dead tree the whole time my wife and I were at the Edmonds Marsh today. He'd go down to the water occasionally, but always returned here. I like the backlighting on his crest.

Very nice. I have seen a couple of these but they never stuck around for their portrait Like this.

Great job, Jim. Kingfisher's are quite skittish and getting close to them is almost impossible.
Nice. You can get close to them using one of the big white lenses.

This was taken with my Sony A7rII + 100-400mm + 1.4X so I was quite a ways from him. I was standing on a boardwalk that goes along this marsh. The birds seem to be used to people watching them.
