March showers in Faucigny

On Monday I had to do the grocery shopping which is never very exciting and which requires driving 25 minutes down the valley. It was typical moody March weather with passing showers and I hoped I would be rewarded on the way back with some interesting end-of-day light and clouds. Well, I got what I was looking for. I took a little detour and ended up at some medieval ruins on a hill in the next town over, where I got caught up by this cloud front that came through. I got rained on, hailed on and snowed on by the time I got back home, but was pretty happy with what I took back on my SD card.

I tried different treatments in B&W but ended up liking sepia better for this one. All comments welcome!

I like the look of the rain shafts in this scene. The B&W adds a bit of drama to the clouds too.

Thanks Alan. I didn't take many of the ruins, mostly because there was only the original foundation left and they had tried to "restore" the walls with mortar which never really looks authentic. But here's one with a partial wall as the storm was going overhead
