Mattole River Valley

An old capture from along the Mattole Road just above the town of Honeydew near the California coast. I always liked the mood of this view but the lighting was pretty close to the limits of the 6 MP Canon D60 I was shooting at the time (2003). I decided to see how well I could clean up the capture with present day editing tools. While somewhat presentable for web posting it would be difficult to make it into anything more than that.

Wow! It sure cleaned up well Alan! That is some really great light, and I am glad you could clean it up.

Thanks Jim - this looks pretty close to why I stopped to take the shot to begin with. I knew it was going to be hard light to work with when I shot it which turned out to be correct since it took me 22 years to get it right

For the record this is one of the types of shots I keep Topaz PhotoAI around for since DxO doesn't work on the old .CRW Canon RAW file type.

Nice work with the salvage. DXO does handle my 10D files which are also CRW. I think that is the earliest Canon DSLR which they support.

Thanks Jameel - Canon had switched to the CR2 format with the 20D which was my D60 replacement. They did use the CRW format with several of their compact cameras that could do RAW well after the 10D but DxO doesn't work with those files. Could your old D30 shoot RAW?

My first DSLR was the 10D. Prior to that I had the Nikon Coolpix 995 which didn't do RAW.
