The lid of my compost often gives me a spider story. In the same spot where the spiders were reproducing (reported in a previous post) I saw this Orbweaver trying to subdue this Four-spotted Sap beetle. The beetle was struggling to get free from the web and the spider was producing more web and seemed to be trying to bite the beetle. Eventually the beetle managed to break free and the next time I looked it was gone.

Amazing the beetle got free of that entanglement. That is usually a one way ticket to being invited to lunch with the spider - as the meal. Nice macro work.
