That helicopter view is quite amazing. Do they allow you to take your drone along on a trip like this?

How many tour ships like the one you were on are plying the waters down there? I think @Jeffrey was just down there this last week as well.

Alan,
Don't know if they allow drones I suspect not. Because they are flying helicopters from the ship and this is a helicopter view. There are a lot of ships that travel down there but only a very few fly helicopters. I don't know for certain but this ship maybe the only one that flys helicopters. They take safety very seriously we had to wear a special dry suit in the heli and on the heli landing on a glacier.

Beth,
Yes the mountains are huge. The ship holds only 190 passengers and 150 crew so as far as ships go it is rather small. The ship had 7 floors.

Love that view from the Helicopter! That really gives a great perspective to the area!

And 150 crew members to 190 passengers? That's almost like each person has their own maid! :)

Small? I am enroute home from my second Antarctic adventure, this time on a boat that takes only 12 passengers. We're living on the waterline!

This seems to be common on small boats. When we are on an 8-day cruise in the Galapagos, the ship had 40 passengers (3 levels), 32 crew members and 5 naturalists.

Jeffery,
How was the Drake passage? The view is beautiful.
Bob
Bob, this time I flew Punta Arena to King George Island and boarded our boat there. What a difference. Last trip the Drake Shake was brutal.
