Music for the eyes

I think most musical instruments are visually beautiful -- appropriate for the beautiful sounds they can create. Setting a scene with interesting lighting is something I play with from time to time. A couple of recent attempts.

I love the contrasts of the violin and the background for the shot - well done lighting. The french horn shot is quite nice as well.

I am a bit behind as I am traveling, but I am really glad I saw these today! What an amazing still life image you got, especially in #1. I like your shadows/light in it.

Thank you for the comments. For the violin shot, I used a snoot with a grid to get a soft light & shadow, but with a well-defined spot. I have gone to LED lamps (Westcott & Smith-Victor) for all my closeup work & it's much easier (for me) to control the effects. The lighting for the French horn was actually harder for me to get what I wanted without bad glints.
