My Pal Starr

Thought of putting this image under pets but it is an infrared at 590nm. This was my best pal and jogging/hiking pardner. We got her as a scared little fur ball from the local animal shelter at Christmas time in ’07. Bringing her home, she tried hiding behind the Christmas tree and ended up knocking it over, breaking the tree and several ornaments. She was also terribly fearful of car rides with uncontrollable quivering and whining but soon grew out of it and began looking forward as she learned a car ride met an adventure. Had to watch her when we went hiking or jogging, if she found a dead animal, she had this terrible penchant of rolling all over it. I never hit her but I’d sure give her a severe tongue lashing but to no avail, she’d place her tail between her legs knowing I was upset with her but if she found another dead animal, she’d do it all over again. Drove me nuts! I also remember the first time she saw a horse and rider. She freaked, wanting to get as far away as possible. I’m pretty sure she saw a two headed monster that would make a snack of her.
We lost her last August. She made it a good 13 years which is a pretty good lifetime for a larger, 75lb dog but sure wish she was still with us and ready for another adventure. This was on one of our last outings and when she was still healthy.

What a Beautiful Portrait and Memory Doug, So Sorry about you Losing Starr, I know you two were inseparable and pals on so many
escapades. They leave us way too soon, but their impact is so deep and strong, that our Memories of them never fade.

Thanks All! She was a good friend. Had several dogs in my life and each was painful to lose but there was something really special with her. It's been a good six months but I keep seeing her around the house. I guess the biggest thing I miss is the excited greeting I'd receive coming home. House is just too quiet. We'll get another, wife and I have already started discussing but not ready yet.

Thanks for sharing your story, of course now I have tears rolling down my face. I have six dogs and love them as if they were my children, if you asked my kids they might say even more. This is a great tribute to her memory.
