My take on Penguin Rock in Joshua Tree NP

I’m developing an affinity for Joshua Tree National Park. All of those huge granite rock piles really draw me in close.

These images of Penguin Rock were taken a few days ago near sunset. Because I was traveling light on a motorcycle, my only camera was the iPhone 15 pro max. There was no one occupying the campsite near Penguin Rock and it was quite easy to spot. I’ve included the traditional view of the formation I learned about on Focalworld and one from the opposite direction.

I prefer the color version; it’s interesting to see the setting sun on the left—but both photos are lovely.
