You can see in these pictures that this little baby is being savaged by our mosquito infestation. It's the worst that it's ever been due to the wet spring / summer and the high river receding. The bad thing is that the City of Moab won't do anything even though their mosquito traps are capturing over 2,000 at a time, whereas a normal count is < 250 (A couple people complained on social media about how horrible fogging is). I feel for the little guy, but what can I do? I don't even want to go outside...

Cute kid but it doesn't sound like the fawn is having a good time.

Sounds like a first class downer for those who are providing hemoglobin for the skin diver's survival. The mosquitos in Utah absolutely loved me on the dinner menu and used to swarm all over me even when other people weren't being bitten. Not sure why but the NW mosquito's don't like me nearly as much but I'm not complaining.

Yeah, that's a lot of mosquito's! As much as I probably on the surface wouldn't want spraying either, mosquito's are horrible disease spreaders and sometimes one evil (spraying) is needed to combat an even great evil (disease). I know here in California we used to have to spray periodically for fruit flies. We all survived somehow, and the fruit flies were eradicated.

Superb photo of a very unfortunate fawn. Besides anemia, mosquito bites and dermatitis; White-tailed deer are susceptible to West Nile virus which occasionally causes fatal neurological disease just like in people.
