"The African fish eagle (Icthyophaga vocifer) or the African sea eagle is a large species of eagle found throughout sub-Saharan Africa wherever large bodies of open water with an abundant food supply occur. It is the national bird of Malawi, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. As a result of its large range, it is known in many languages. Examples of names include: Vis Arend in Afrikaans, nkwazi in Chewa, aigle pêcheur in French, hungwe in Shona, inkwazi in isiZulu, and ntšhu in Northern Sotho. This species may resemble the bald eagle in appearance; though related, the two species occur on different continents, with the bald eagle being resident in North America."

"Beautiful, glossy green-and-purple starling. There is a stripe through the eye that sometimes looks black and sometimes deep purple. Juveniles in the northern part of the range have a brown head and underparts, while southern juveniles have distinctive rufous underparts. In the south, found in broadleaf woodland, mainly miombo. In the north, uses a variety of savanna, brush, and woodland habitats. The song is a complex, chattering series, and the call is a vibrant rising note, which is often incorporated into the song. Very similar to Greater Blue-eared Starling, but smaller and shorter-tailed, with a thinner stripe through the eye. Also similar to Cape Starling, but has a dark eye-stripe and a purple belly, and is usually found in different habitat. "

Beautiful markings on the eagle - more colorful than most. The starling is much more interesting to look at compared to the all black ones I see endlessly in my area. Nice images.

As I scrolled down, I thought you had captured a bald eagle. The more I scrolled I realized you hadn't, but that was my first thought with that white head. That's quite the interesting bird.

Now #2, has an interesting name, because it's all blue basically, but the name calls out it's ears as being blue. Kind of funny to me, but I am probably missing something about why they named it as such. No matter, this is one super cool bird. I like all of the various tones of blue on it.

Thanks for looking and commenting Jim, it's greatly appreciated. Don't get me started on common names. I wonder what some of these people are smoking when I see the common names birds are given. All I can think is they try to point out a distinguishing feature that separates a bird from a similar bird. So for the Blue-eared Starling, it's a blue bird that has an ear rather than a bird that has a blue ear. Lesser and Greater are a bit more ambiguous.
