NGC 7023

I finally had a couple of clear, Moonless nights! I decided to target the Iris Nebula (NGC 7023). The last and first time I targeted this was about one year ago. At that time I used a dslr and a star adventurer 2i. Here I used an astro cam, the GTi and EAF.

Redcat 51, asi533mc pro (gain 101, -10C), Star adventure GTi, Asiair plus, guided, EAF.
Optolong L-pro, 94x300" subs, Calibration frames; darks, flats, bias, Bortle 5+, processed in Pixinisight.

This looks really great! I like how you maintained all of the dark nebula clouds around it too.

I had forgotten I was going to do the Iris nebula, I haven't done it yet. Last night instead I went for the Lion Nebula SH2-132 that a lot of guys have been imaging lately.

Thank you. It’s only the second try at this and one goal was to bring out more of the dust. My window for some targets is quite short so I need to prioritize. I haven’t tried the Lion yet but it is on my bucket list!

Yeah, it's hard if you have a small window for some of the targets. You should go for the Lion! It's kind of cool seeing everyone's efforts on it, and it would be neat to see your attempt on it. You have such a knack for the faint details, it would be sweet to see your take on it.

Thank you for the kind words. I was planning on M31 next as the last time I captured it was with a dslr and now I’m using a cooled astro cam. However there is a good window for M31 so I think I will give the Lion a go next.
