NGC 7380 Wizard Nebula

This is my first go at imaging the Wizard Nebula.
August 29,30,31 2021 - Driveway observatory :>)
It certainly took hours and hours for my desktop computer to work through this one!
I like how the colors turned out and reveal the inner details.

88 subframes split between 120 seconds, 240 seconds, and 300 seconds.
Flats, Dark Flat and Dark calibration frames

Pixinsight and Photoshop to finish
Created starless to massage the nebula
Inserted stars

It's really amazing the detail in this that I hadn't realized was there in the Wizard nebula. Really awesome. I bet you are happy with this, I know I would be.

Very nice result - I really like the processing flow of removing the stars to allow for stretching of the fainter nebulae portions without blowing out the stars, I use that technique all the time too. Great colors and details in this one!

Remind me what astro camera you are using for this?

I am using the Asi533mc pro. I find it to be a good match to my equipment. It is my first Astro cam. The square sensor is fine for me, but I know others find it a bit limiting. Still, DSOs are SMALL😊😊

what process do you use for star separation and reinsertion?

I use Starnet inside of PixInsight. I find it works well on Nebulae images, not so good on galaxy images, which has me using it a lot for my narrowband stuff. In that case, in addition to liking the flexibility of working on the nebulosity stretching and colors without worrying about what is happening to the stars, I like to take small RGB sets of data just for the stars and reinsert RGB stars back into my narrowband nebulae data, as I don't like what happens to star colors when imaged through NB filters. I am still imaging with a older generation version of the ASI1600MM-Cool at this point.

Looks like we will be seeing some very nice stuff from you and that 533 - looking forweard to more of your posts for sure! :)

Thanks for explaining. I am still learning and hope to get a workflow that will preserve the RGB stars like you mentioned. For my wider imaging, I use the ASI071MC Cool. it is out of the same generation as the 1600 you mentioned. Still quite effective, I think, anyway.
