Northern Spain day 3, part 2 Playa de Portizuelo

This was a new beach for me but I had seen posts from here and knew that I had to visit on a low'ish falling tide.
Unfortunately the tide wasn't quite low enough for me to visit the sea caves, more on tides later but at least the rain stopped and the light improved. Getting around this beach is very difficult, the rocks are sharp, irregular, often unstable and littered with sea pools, some of which are deep. It would be very easy to get into serious trouble on a rising tide as the interesting bits of the beach are about 1/4 mile along the rocky coastline with a couple of pinch points close to the water's edge. Those rocks are quite interesting but look a bit on the dicey side for older individuals to be wandering around with nothing but angular surfaces exposed. Especially true with a rapidly rising tide. Looks like wonderful tide pools in these formations. I like both the close in still water shots in #1 and #2 as well as the long exposures in #3 and #4. Neat place.

All 4 of these are super cool Ken! What a very fun beach location.

I have one beach area here in California by me that sounds similar to that. One has to really watch the tides in order to get around several pinch points or you will be swimming. I try to be careful with the timing, but I also make sure that in case I get distracted and the pinch points get pinched, I have a waterproof backpack I can put my camera gear into so they don't get wet in case I have to swim for it.
