Not looking good for DJI

His mind (if he has one) was made up when his son got onto the board of a Florida company that is making drone parts.

An article from the New York Times suggests that the current administration is about to end DJI's access to the U.S. markets:

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/08/business/dji-chinese-drones-ban.html?unlocked_article_code=1.kU8.xLho.dgCseTQVt4h6&smid=em-share

Congress had added an amendment to the most recent defense bill requiring tests to demonstrate that DJI was a national security risk but it sounds like the Trump administration is simply going to ban new sales no matter what.
Tragically that "company" is 12 miles from where I am. Oh man, what a twisted world we live in.

Given that the 23rd Dec deadline has passed and no audit was even attempted to mitigate the issues cited for banning DJI, it’s pretty much a given that no new DJI models will ever be available in the US or be certified by FCC to fly.

Currently available stock is still fine to buy and fly. Just too bad it has come to this. No other drone manufacturer is even remotely close to what DJI has to offer.

I wonder what kind of support will exist for current owners incl firmware updates going forward.

Digital Camera World had an article on the question of ongoing support and DJI indicates that they intend to continue support for the models that did acquire FCC approval prior to the recent bans.

At least from what I have read so far DJI could fully release the Mavic 4 Pro and the Mavic 5 Mini in the US but Customs has been blocking them with false claims of Uyghur forced labor building the drones.
