Ocean Tiles

This is from the Southern end of Sunset Cliffs. I posted some photos yesterday of the Petrified Beach Ball at the Northern End. To get to this one, you have to go past the
"Do Not Go Past - Unstable Cliffs" signs to climb down the cliffs to get to this cove area. There used to be a rope to help you down at the bottom part where it's the steepest. I grew up rock climbing, so it's not a big deal even at 67 years old. I make it worse on myself by having a camera slung over each shoulder while also holding my video camera setup. I probably could have held the video camera while going down, but I put it in a side bag I have. Though once I got down I felt like I wimped out and should have just did a video as I was going down the cliff.

The nice thing, is the difficulty in getting down meant that instead of dozens of people running around, there was only a half dozen spread out.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

Nice spray action on the rocks. What was your shutter speed? The rocks look more like good stone masonry work rather than tiles with the interlocking irregular shapes.

Thanks Alan, it was at 1/10th of a sec. I was shooting closer to 1/5th, I was just setting up there so I must not have had totally dialed in there. But the 1/10th seemed to have worked pretty well.

And you are right, in the back of my mind I always knew "Tile" wasn't the right word, it is more like Stone Masonry. But I have been calling these tiles for like 20 years, so I might have a hard time switching. :)

We need @Douglas Sherman to describe how this stone masonry is made to look so perfect.
