Off on a trip at the end of the month

We are going on a short trip to Assynt in the far North West of Scotland. Staying, for 5 nights, in a cottage at Calchtoll about 1/2 mile from Clachtoll and Stoer beaches with Achmelvich beach a healthy 3 mile hike. This should give me plenty of opportunity to practice my seascapes. The discover assynt website has images. https://www.discoverassynt.co.uk/beaches. It is only 350 miles by road so a short drive by US standards but our idea of a main road would raise smiles as we will be on everything from 6 lane highways to single track roads where meeting another vehicle often requires a smile and negotiating who is going to reverse back into the nearest passing place. As well as seascapes I want to finally nail Wailing Widow waterfall as I am unhappy with the images from my 3 previous visits. I hope to be able to cross the stream and get into better places and will not mind getting wet by crossing the stream. If weather permits we are going to walk up Stac Pollaidh a diminutive mountain with stunning vistas across Assynt. I have other images planned but as always here the weather is incredibly changeable.

We will be 2 miles from this viewpoint so, with luck, I should be able to get some decent light either at dawn or sunset.

I am in danger of giving myself unachievable expectations but in the end I will be happy to be out in the very fresh air. Ken

Have fun and I fully understand your desire to improve over past images. When I was still an engineer I always believed that a finished design could be improved

I am officially jealous! What a totally fun trip you are going on. What an interesting and diverse area you are going to. Waterfalls, the ocean, the landscape? Please take some photos of the cottage too. How about a few photos of the village of Calchtoll?
