Off to Vienna

Mixed transport for this trip. A 69 mile drive to thw port close to Newcastle on the NE English coast and the overnight ferry the 300 miles to Ijmuiden near Amsterdam. The ferry is just over 30,000T and is packed. We have used this route on many occasions and it used to be pleasant but this is an old boat that has just been refurbished. They have crammed more cabins in and reduced/ removed the public spaces so it feels busy and noisy. Tomorrow we start the 600 mile drive across Netherlands and Germany. We are breaking our journey in Wurtzburg a beautiful Bavarian city. The first 5 miles will be a challenge for me as I get used to driving on the "wrong" side of the road. Forecast is good tomorrow but it is raining heavily today. More to come. Ken

So that's interesting, you can take your car with and then drive in these other countries. I love ferries, I think of them as an inexpensive cruise ship. :)

It's too bad that they crammed more cabins in, but I guess that's how they make more money. Is your car in this photo?
