Deep in the Bavarian region is the town of Bamberg and was one of my favorites.

Bamberg is a town in Upper Franconia district in Bavaria, Germany, on the river Regnitz close to its confluence with the river Main. Bamberg had 79,000 inhabitants in 2022. The town dates back to the 9th century, when its name was derived from the nearby Babenberch castle. Cited as one of Germany's most beautiful towns, with medieval streets and buildings, the old town of Bamberg with around 2,400 timber houses has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993.

1st thing i noticed was this date of 1521 and thinking how this building is 254 years OLDER than the US..... And in beautiful shape as with all the buildings on my visit.

Such a beautiful church. For some reason I misplaced all the pictures of the inside. Once found, will post later.

So our guide said several famous movies were taken in this little hallway, sadly, I did not take note to what they were

So this royal palace was so big, I had to capture it in 3 images. This 1st one if showing the right side

Bamberg_13.jpg

and the left side, the sun eliminated this side different than the right and I could not bring out the colors quite as vibrant. But in person, it was quite stunning

Finally the center of the palace at 9:59 am lol FYI, the back side pretty much match the front.

magical to walk through this old city

A radium small church, so many to see in Bamberg

Everywhere I looked, I saw images like this. I had to really narrow down my selection for Focal World as I had just too many

Bamberg_18.jpg

Last one, next stop is Nuremberg

I thought this was a great picture to show just how small or narrow the Main River was we navigated on this part of the river cruise (which by the way) I would recommend to anyone!

Wow - I can see why this place was one of your favorite places on your trip. It would be easy to spend days shooting in that place.

What a great city Ed! You captured the spirit of the city really well in these.

It looks like a lot of narrow streets and more people walking around then driving in cars?

I enjoyed how many towers there were. Everything goes up there. The Arches are cool. And yeah, when I was in the UK many years ago, the age of everything so impacted me. It feels to us like the USA has been here for ever, but it seems like most buildings there have been around for hundreds if not a thousand years before the USA. It helps to put things in perspective.

It looks not only impressive, but also really peaceful. I hope you can share some advice on visiting and staying there as well.
So we took a 2 week river cruse down the rien, main and another river i forget which started in Amsterdam and ended up in viena. Which was nice as we stayed on the boat every night but stopped at a new city every day, our own personal river taxi. Great food and guide service, but we were (on the go) so your were limited to the amount of time we where in each place concerning photograpy. Same in egypt. (Which included a 6 day river cruse down the nile) im glad we got to do both highly recommend
