On my recent Fall Color exploration through Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan one of the things that I was really keeping an eye out for and got very excited was when I found farm buildings with fall color next to them or around them that I could compose and capture both together. So one such that caught my eye was in Wisconsin as I was heading back over to Minnesota (I would crisscross between the states hitting each state several times).
When I saw the Silo's poking up above the tree's I knew I had to stop and capture this scene. My intention initially was that I would crop this to show just the trees and silo's because without switching lenses I had to shoot the scene a bit wider so I also captured the recently harvested corn field. Back at my daughters as I am processing I realize that I don't want it that tight and I actually kind of like the harvested corn stalks in the foreground. So I am glad I did shoot it wider. The other choice I made while processing was to go with a 16:9 format crop. I think this is the 3rd time I have cropped to that format on this trip. Which is odd since I don't normally do that. But, for some reason a few of you guys who do the 16:9 crop must be rubbing off on me.
