Hi all,

We'd been hunting for Sky Rock for a number of days in July, and were waiting to act on some helpful directions. A bit more hunting turned it up, and it is an amazing piece of art. A sunset, moonset, and sunrise turned up some interesting cloud shows, and the fresh snow on the Sierra was lovely. C&C welcome and appreciated!

I love petroglyphs and pictographs and have been thinking about capturing this one. When I get ready to go I will get in touch with you.

Great Job with this site, Timmeh.

Hey Tim,

Very nice work! I am glad you were able to dig through all of the clues and find this. It's funny how you could walk right by this and not know its there.

I like your creativity here with these. Very nice thinking, I like them both.

Thanks for the comments all. We got to share the spot with another photographer, and we agreed being at a native site on Thanksgiving was thought provoking.

First one for me while both are nice. The petroglyphs dominate the first one and provide a strong foreground.

That moonlit shot is outstanding. Did you add any light to the petroglyphs?
Hi Jim,

This is a 3 photo blend. High ISO shot for the stars, long exposure for the midground and tonality of the moonlight, and a low ISO shot with light painting to bring out detail in the petroglyphs that was washed out in the long exposure.
