PreDawn Light at Great Fountain Geyser

This is from a few years ago at the Great Fountain Geyser at Yellowstone National Park. The Great Fountain Geyser is my favorite Geyser at Yellowstone. I have mentioned before that I have literally spent hours and days at this geyser. It's one that erupts on a schedule but it has an 8 hour swing, so to catch the eruption can take a lot of patience.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

I like the symmetrical elements in this, seems to be more appealing than the other previously posted shot. The sky has great influence, I like how the reflection is picking up the color in the lower portion of the sky,

Agree with others, the symmetry and reflections make it. Too bad there are some structures on the left to detract from the purity of the shot, but I don't know if you could have eliminated them with camera placement.

To get an erratically erupting geyser at a time with great light is magical. Those pools add to the beauty. Your patience paid off.

Thanks Ben! This is pre-eruption, the steam increases and those pools start to fill up, once you see them starting to pour over the edges you know that an eruption is imminent.

Thanks Jim! Glad you liked this. This is a scalloped terraced geyser as you can see. What you see is a few benches from the viewing area on the south side of the geyser. It can be avoided in some shots, but I wanted that one scalloped terrace front and center and also to center the color in the sky. Sometimes it just needs to be cloned out, and that's probably what I should go do on this one later.
