I actually thought this shot was ruined by sensor dust. Why? Look at this:

And here's the "rescued" image:

So what happened? There was actually practically no dirt on the sensor! Those are Midges (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highland_midge)! Fortunately, Photoshops Dust&Scratches filter got rid of them without too much damage to the picture ...

Hey Carlo,

Wow... those midges are crazy! I had the same thing happen on time in the high Sierra part of Yosemite but with Mosquitos instead. I think I might prefer midges.

I am glad you could clean it up, because that is sure one beautiful image with that Rainbow.

That would have been the dirtiest sensor I have ever seen. Quite amazing you could clean that one up - nice work.

My luck was that most were in the sky and sea where the Photoshop filter worked quite well. Applying that filter to the rest of the image looked desastrous ... so I cleaned some 10-20 there with the spot healing brush.

Very cool take at Loch Maree! I remember that spot as quintessentially Scottish!
My first thought was a cloud of midges! We were lucky to avoid them in our November outing.
