Rainstorm pushing through

You know how you plan a route for your trip and you plot the scenic route instead of the Interstate route, just for the possibility you'll have lots of nice puffy clouds while passing through the countryside? Well that didn't happen here. It was rainy and stormy and even some lightning during this morning drive. That's Agatha Peak on the Navajo Reservation.

I love the stormy mood of this scene - perfect conditions for some atmospheric drama. The vegetation looks like recent rains have washed down the dust and left some sweet saturation to the colors. Neat image.

I like these storm clouds! I know what you mean about preferring the backroads as opposed to the freeways. I like what you did here, I have stopped and captured this as well on many occasions. It reminds me a bit of Shiprock, and that's pretty neat.

On my bucket list to see and photograph. Love the mood and the sky.
Phenomenal colors!!! Beautiful!!!
Beautiful image Michael. The sky looks surreal with the magenta hues.
Thanks Guys! This storm also gave us a nice rainbow which I'll post in the future. The saturated colors are thanks to the atmospherics, I didn't boost them.

i prefer rainy and stormy to just about anything else for landscape photos. it worked well for you on this one. the worst skies are blue with no clouds or bright white.

You got that right. Many times have I been at the right place at the wrong time with boring blue skies. Just gotta go back again.
