Rainy day at Anza Borrego Desert State Park

It was raining of and on during this morning. The soil was wet, and the clay was sticking to the bottom of my shoes. They weighed at least 5 lbs. apiece when I took them off. I didn't care because the photography was good that morning. The clouds in the sky were great and the colors were saturated.

Desert Gold Sunflowers dominate the scene.

Did you laugh, Douglas?

I love the deep color saturation of a rainy/cloudy day. Sounds a bit messy with respect to your boots but they can be cleaned off and the colors won't be around waiting for dry photo days :) Amazing meadow of blooms.

Hey Doug, I think I stood in your footprints today! :)

It still looks really nice here in Anza Borrego, but I don't think quite as nice as when you were there. I don't think my photos will match yours.

I hope you got some great images this morning, Jim.

I am a little slow, Michael, so I don't know what you mean about "did you laugh?"
I ask this because I laugh whenever I photograph incredible scenes like this. I laughed when I first entered Zion NP, saw the Grand Canyon, drove through Monument Valley, and wherever I saw wildflowers after last year's winter. This seems to be my natural reaction to awe-inspiring scenes.

I totally get what you are saying and have done the exact same thing, Michael.
