Thanks Trent. I got hit by cars five times within five years back in the 90s, while riding around Portland. Nowadays I only ride indoors. Thanks for sharing this Michael. I am aware of the ghost bike movement. We have them where I live as well. It is sad.
Right you are Alan. It would be ironic if memorials like this led to more accidents.A sad reminder to keep an eye on the road while driving instead of looking away at the scenery instead.
Thanks Jim, it was sad to see, but kinda happy too as the memorial made me think someone died doing what they loved. That is really sad to see. You have memorialized it well with this photo.
The laws vary from state to state, but I am seeing more and more of these in rural areas where you might think would be less likely to happen with way less traffic.I'm not aware of this 'fad', but have seen the occasional memorial bike with flowers placed at the site of where the cyclist got killed by a inattentive or drunk driver.
It only takes one redneck rural resident with no awareness of the proper way to approach a cyclist to kill him. Not heavy traffic. (yes, spoken like the true cyclist that I am). Thanks Trent.
