Rocks, Water, and Time

My favorite place on the California Coast is Garrapata State Park, around 10 miles south of Monterey. While there are numerous trails which get you closer to the Pacific Ocean, there are still awesome views from the carparks along the highway. The carparks have the advantage of being much higher up so you can get more separation between the sea stacks compared to being at eye-level. Bring your longest lens here - I wanted more than my 300mm!

That is so incredible Michael!

It's interesting with this being a vertical, that only the top half displayed on my screen, and I thought that was the finished image, then as I scrolled I saw what I thought was a second image. I thought at first that you had posted 2 images without any space between them as happens a lot.

But as I flicked my scroll wheel up and down I never saw any split, and then realized it was 1 single vertical image with the darker middle providing a split between the upper and lower seastacks.

What a super cool illusion in this. I really like what you captured here.

Oh my - I like this wider view of this place. Lots of rocks to collect nice splashes from the waves. Looks neat in B&W.
Thanks Alan, this was the one spot I liked most, so I hung around until the light finally cooperated!

Thanks Jim, I never noticed that until you mentioned it. Or maybe my posting of square images has conditioned users to expect them more often?
