Lynds Dark Nebula (LDN) 1251, lies about 1,000 light-years away in the constellation of Cepheus. This dusty molecular cloud, also known as "The Rotten Fish Nebula," and forms part of a large complex of dark nebulae. Within the image, are the tell-tale reddish glow from scattered Herbig-Haro objects, which are bright patches of nebulosity associated with newborn stars.

Wow Andy! That's so cool! I have always thought that this one was an under appreciated object. You did it really well to keep all of the dark nebula intact.

Andy,
This is truly excellent. Good dark nebulae images are NOT easy. I need to try my hand at more of them. I would be VERY happy to end up with results like this. I greatly enjoyed the AB version - thanks for sharing!
