For this week I reworked this image from Garrapata on the California coast. Single image, linear profile.

Pile on with your reworks and salvages.

This is a great one Kyle! Love those waves.

I am busy doing construction work at my daughters today. I will see if I can dig an image out of my archives to work on.

I might have mentioned this before, but it would be great to have a tutorial here on Linear Profiles and what they are, and how to do them. I must have had my head under a rock, but I feel kind of lost in regards to what they are. I mean, I have used a Color Profile (Adobe) for 20+ years now. I am guessing it's not Linear, but if it's not Linear, what is the opposite of Linear?

I think it would be helpful to have a tutorial describing it, and discussing how to use it. And how it is different from what we were doing in the past. Maybe you or one of the other guys using Linear Profiles could take a bit of time and put a Tutorial together for us.

Great images Kyle and Alan. Mine is from a place that Alan would easily recognize. Again the salvage involved use of linear profiles to tame the highlights.
🤣 You have no idea how many times I have cloned those houses near the point out of my shots.

A definite keeper Kyle, the DOF and the sun shining on the rock on the right really make this a wonderful image.

I may have some time to put something together.

I didn't care much for his delivery style but the info in Mark's video is worth watching. Good explanations of why to do linear profiles. Not something I would always use but the linear profiles help a lot when dynamic range is at its limits in one of your captures.

I had the same thoughts, but after watching few of his tutorials i can confidently confirm he is on another level, when it comes to processing and knowledge, even compared to the biggest names, his teaching style is hard to swallow, and takes all my willpower to stay focused, but he delivers big time.

I was TK user for years, paying for all the upgrades, half upgrades, tutorials and so on, until i had to get service from Tony Kuyper, 1st suddenly my email was not in the list, 2nd i was accused in stealing his software, even after i presented all the receipts, i didn't get the service i requested and not even sorry for the accusations.
Needless to say neither i or any of my friends will spend any money there.

I purchased his full guide, have watched it, and spent a bunch of time playing with it. I'll never do things the same way, but there is a lot of good info.

I would love it if he turned down the hype a bit (or a lot), but I agree the knowledge is good.

Creating linear profiles is free and easy. I have translated some of the youtube videos into a written guide that I will post on FocalWorld sometime soon. I will also include some thoughts on processing, since your starting point with a linear profile is VERY different, but I won't try to give a step by step that "borrows heavily" from someone else's hard work
