Sandhill Crane at the Bosque

While driving around the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge I spotted this single crane of the side of the road, stopped and grabbed a few shots. The bird was very cooperative and stayed there while I changed lenses!

Thanks Alan, this bird was very cooperative. We got into a large group of cranes north of the entrance to the Bosque when we stopped for Kathleen to shoot some trees and heard all the noise from cranes is a stuble field. we could not see them but could really hear them, we followed the noise and found a few hundred cranes feeding in a series of stuble fields. This was before we got the Bosque where there were 8500 cranes!

Thanks Jim the low light is what drew me to the shot. The crane really stood out against the background!
