Scenic Roadways

The subtitle of this forum is Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (and anything else that moves) but I am posting an image of a roadway that doesn't move (often at least) anyway.

For there are two types of favorite roadways - twisty roads that are fun to drive and scenic ones I stop and photograph. CA Hwy 1 heading west from Leggett is a great example of the first type and the image below shows the second.

This piece of roadway is best known as the Hogback on Utah Hwy 12 between Escalante and Boulder.

C&C always welcome.

Hey Alan, you have some pretty sound logic there!

That is a fun scenic road to drive. My only suggestion is I think you should have been standing in the middle of the road. I have a thing for shooting from the middle, you just have to be quick on your toes... :)

Right Alan, I think this is on the top 10 scenic highways list, and Hw1 ought to be as well.
Agree on CA 1 - and I have lot of images of that road between Bodega Bay and it's termination at Leggett. I have only one on the stretch between Rockport and Leggett:

I used to participate at a lot of track events at Thunderhill near Willows and always made a point of driving home by heading over to the coast near Mendocino. After several days of driving at the track this sign was one of my favorite road markers.

CA 1 does look like a fun one to drive (at least from Google Earth!). And the Hog Back is on my list for maybe the next time I get to Utah.
My favorite hwy in the US has to be US 395. Old summer time family vacations, and all the cool stuff to shoot! I'd be happy to have to drive that one all the time!

Hey, I drove that road from Escalante to Boulder once! Really nice.
I agree with Barry about US 395, but I also much enjoyed HW 198 (the Generals Drive in Sequoia and HW 180 into Kings Canyon.
