Thanks Ad for the comment, very much appreciated. This image did not work in color and converting it to monochrome brought it to life!Really like the interplay between the different shades of grey.
Thanks Alan for the comments. If you view this image in full size you can spot 3 additional surfers on the water. I was using a 500 mm lens, but this character was the only one in reasonable range of my lens.Definitely a man on a mission.
I am guessing the water temperature isn't exactly tropical with the amount of neoprene he is wearing. Anyone else out in the water catching worthwhile breaks? Sometimes you can get some great action shots if your lens is long enough.
Hi Jim; thans for the comments. My wife and I were shooting on the surf side of Morro Rock. I was trying to capture images of those skittish little birds running along the water edge, with nit much luck. After the Serious Surfer walked by, I look up and saw a few surfers working the waves. The image I posted titled Surfer is the only keeper of surfers I got that day.Hey Larry,
This is great and you are right, he sure does look serious. One thing I know is the further north up the coast you go, the more layers, and especially the head cap is worn to stay warm.
I was photographing the Sea Otters up at Morro Rock a few days ago, but I wasn't in the right spot to see any surfers as I was still in the channel area.
