That's interesting to see the difference Ed. What's the focal length of the 8"?

It was 1214 fl with the reducer. The SV was about 725 fl. I thought it would have been a bigger difference. I will next try the sct at it's native fl which is 2032

That would be cool to see what 2032mm gives you!

Have you tried any planetary with the 8"?

Ed, OK, for me, I just like the post processing (specifically the colors) in the refractor image better, so that sways me to that one. Hard to truly compare at this scale (are these on AB?) but I also seem to see more star color in the refractor image too, something I enjoy. The resolution of the 8 inch SCT image though is impressive, and perhaps you are just up against the physics of the extra resolving power of a larger aperture OTA in this case. Certainly proof that you have that 8 inch scope well dialed in I would say :)
