Smart Mount with LONG Tracking Ability - ArcBlue Anyone?

There is poised to be another player in the smart tracking mount product space, and a very intriguing one at that.

So far just propaganda, as not released yet. Going through a kickstarter it sounds like, so could be a ways off from being released. But using a full frame sensor and removing the optics from the device itself (you supply your own camera lens or telescope) it would seemingly solve a couple complaints about the small optics and sensors of current offerings. And then on top of that if it meets all its advertised specs like subframe exposure times - (up to 10 minutes!) - then it is going to be something. Of course, with no price yet listed, that will likely be something too. I mean, encoder based mount - not going to be cheap.

P.S. - Here is where I saw it first...

Hey Mike,

I have been seeing ads for it off and on. I agree it does sound interesting. A lot of details are vague, but on the surface it certainly does have a lot of potential. The Kickstarter aspect is something I have learned to just steer clear of, but that said I will be watching for when a fleshed out product does hit.

Yes, Kickstarter, especially for big ticket items, is very risky. And this does look to be expensive. Will be fun to see if they get it successfully to market. I am thinking it could be the wave of the future in some ways though.
