Two crops of the same photo. Which do you prefer?

I like the closer crop.

I do wish the water surface was a little closer to level - this has a serious tilt to it.

Much better - I still prefer the tight crop that makes the bird and its lunch more prominent.

Although I normally prefer landscape in a 4x3 format I agree with Alan that the closer crop looks better.

Not to be contrary but I prefer the first one where I get a bit better idea of the environment the bird is in. The yellow flowers in the lower left help to break up that space.
Now I want to see the whole fish go down the throat.

I like the first one as the flowers complement the colors in the beak. It would be possible to crop a slight amount off the right and bottom of the picture depending on how much leeway you have in your file.
