Star Trails at White Pockets

Hey Marcy,

This is awesome! Star trails don't work too often for me, I love shooting them too, but most often they don't seem to fit the composition. But your shot here is a perfect example on how and where star trails work with how you balanced the star trails off of that hill.

Now as I look a bit closer, if you notice more on the left side quite a few of the star trails have a single star then a small gap before the star trails begin. What that tells me is you grabbed 1 shot too soon before the actual non interrupted star shots you took. I have done it myself before so I always keep an eye out for that, and often when I am doing star trail stacking I will play around with different groupings of star shots to get the most pleasing group of trails going.

thanks Jim for the info - I will keep an eye out - sometimes I am not sure how many to take - I should take more - but I get lazy - I have a project in mine and I think I will set it up for 90 frames to see what happens
