Another 5 from Sri Lanka. I quite enjoy trying to identify the different birds I photograph during my travels. I did start as a keen birder but found it difficult to identify some of the birds I saw. This is when I took up photography. Instead of continually looking in books and seeing slight differences between certain species, and trying to remember if it had 5 fingers on its wings, or was the gape of the eagle before or after the eye, it was easier to look at a photo. It was also a lot easier to photograph the back of my camera with my phone and use the Merlin App to ID the bird, or at least get me in the right ballpark. I digress, here are 5 more.
Little Ringed Plover, Charadrius dubius
White-breasted Kingfisher, Halcyon smyrnensis fusca
Plain Prinia, Prinia inornata
Asian Openbill Stork, Anastomus oscitans
Yellow-billed Babbler, Argya affinis
