Stormy Eagle

Yesterday I went to a Nature Area in Northern Colorado that last year I would take my youngest grandson to after picking him up from Preschool. I was by myself this time, but the excitement was the same as spotted the Bald Eagle on it's familiar perch 30 feet above the highway.

With the way he was facing, I had to shoot into the sun. Though there were clouds the sun was close to setting and still forcing it's way through making for some difficult shooting conditions. This image came out pretty well after separating the eagle and tree from the sky. I walked to the backside to take a few shots and it was amazing how much better, with more detail they looked.

This won't match Kyle's great Bald Eagle images from a few days ago, but I was still happy to get them. I did get a couple of birds in flight or birds taking off images as it's partner came in, I will process those later.

Nice job of compositing this scene - the end result is quite nice.
Thanks Alan, it was fun to see again.

It's not a composite though, it's a single image. Maybe I wasn't clear on that. I just used a mask so I could process the bald eagle separate from the sky.

At least you got a clean branch under the eagle. I saw dozens on trees that just had messy masses of sticks around them.

I would probably back off on the shadow recovery on the eagle a little. It looks a little weird against the sky.

Thanks Kyle. Yeah, I was fortunate that I had some angles I could move to so I didn't get any branches over them.
