This image works better in B&W than color. The color version was nearly monochrome anyway.

The smooth waters looks nice. This would look amazing with strong color sunrise colors but the skies don't always cooperate.

That's exactly right. In this case, even with the sun behind the clouds, contrast was low and colors muted. I kind of like the monochrome treatment though.

When the colors don't cooperate may as well go monochrome and make the most of the scene.
