I sent my drone up to scout the sunset a couple of nights ago which ended up being confined to the horizon with few clouds. While I was scanning around I was surprised to spot a freighter sailing downriver on the Columbia River. For all of the sunset flights I have made this was the first time I have spotted a ship underway this late in the day. I guess the river pilots know the shipping channels in the Columbia well enough to get them out to Astoria in the dark but it's not something I have observed before.
In any case it was also the first time I have had something like this in the scene for a sense of scale for this view of the river so I grabbed a 3 panel telephoto sequence at 166mm and cropped it to a 16:9 frame for this image:
C&C always welcome.
