I shot back up to the Tetons for another attempt at the Arrowroot Balsomroot at sunrise. On the way, on I-80 (I think), there as a loud "bang" and I thought that maybe a bird & my windshield had collided, though I had no recollection of seeing something coming towards me. No warning lights on the Fj, so I kept going & didn't inspect until my next gas stop; the piece of trim/moulding above my windshield had blown off. No gust of wind or oncoming semi that I could recall, so I just hoped that it wasn't a piece integral to the structural integrity of the windshield. I reached the Tetons without incident, but because the road to the dispersed camping was now dry & passable in rear-wheel-drive, there were no campsites until over the peak and down the other side until just the uphill side of the "4WD recommended" sign. After 8 hours of driving, I had no energy left to drive back up around sunset (which is sub-optimal for that area anyway), so just hunkered down and tried to ignore the music blasting from the RVs 1/4 mile further on down the road. Because of the benign weather conditions, there were no clouds or ground fog in the morning like there were the week before, but I did manage to catch some alpenglow. And I managed to get my T/S focused in time
. Not sure that I'll pursue this composition in years to come, but is sure was nice to see the increased variety of flowers compared with the previous week.
