The Barn (no, not in the Tetons)

A friend of mine built this barn & wanted me to get pictures of it with the mountain in the background. The winter has been historically dry, so I kept going out after snowstorms, hoping the mountains weren't socked in. This last storm dropped 25-30" at my house (depending on where I was shoveling), the last 17-20" were overnight, when it dropped back into the 20's so at least the snow was light, even if there was a lot of it. After a day of shoveling, I was finally able to get out and see what the barn looked like. Late mornings to early afternoon tend to be best to shoot it as early mornings there's a surprising amount of traffic & I end up eating a lot of dust. Late afternoon & I'd be shooting into the sun or the barn would be in shadow.

Not sure I would be worrying about dust with these conditions :) Wonderful atmospherics and backdrop for this structure. The drift fences suggest most winters have some serious snow depth and drifting here.

Very nice! Lucky you that you got so much snow, there was only about 3" at my daughters house, I would have loved to see 2 feet of snow!

Your neighbor should be happy with this, I like the snow covered mountains in the background. You had the right idea of waiting for snow.

Thanks, Alan.
This time, it would have been slush. Fortunately, the skin areas are closed, so people aren't rushing off to ski early in the mornings.
The wind gets pretty bad i.e. 50 mph gusts are nothing. I park my FJ where it drifts the worst in my driveway so I have a chance of getting out (it's downhill after that). Not an issue this winter, though.

Thanks, Jim.
When I looked at webcams for WY, they got anywhere from a little to nothing, depending on how far north I was checking. Hoping for some wildflowers up there, but no big expectations since they had a dry winter, too.
