The Pasture

Some of you had wanted to see the pasture when it had large swaths of irises in bloom, so here it is. The horses are in the pastures, but not in this one yet. They'll wait until it's dried out (probably after the irises are done, coincidentally ) before they let them graze here. They're in the lower part now. As I walked out with my dog, 2 of them came over to investigate. I turned around to talk to & pet them and when I turned around, we were surrounded by the others. My dog was very demure, hiding behind my legs as best she could.

Those are beautiful. I like the top one with the foreground rock and yellow flowers with old ponderosa snag as a backdrop.

Nice area for walks with a camera. Do the horses ever munch on the flowers?

I had to Google 'do horses eat flowers" and apparently, they love them. Irises have a mild toxin that can irritate anything that ingests them.

What a cool pasture Monika. Is this by your house?

You did a great job with both photos. Iris's can sometimes get lost in the sauce of an image, but they stand out really nice here.

Demure is better then barking for sure as the horses are much larger then your dog. That's interesting that you got surrounded by them.
