Oh wow. It's been over 30 years since I was there, but I looked at the image before I read what you wrote and I thought Vancouver Island. I am a bit happy with myself that I could ID it after all of these years.

And this is a great angle on it.

I have wanted to visit that garden on a couple of different trips up there but never was able to fit that into our trips. Looks amazing in full bloom.

Hi Alan, we were up there in late September while on a 7 day stay at Birch Bay. We were lucky and had sun shine every day untl the day we started for home and the rain hit hard!
