The Valley Never Sleeps

Hi y'all,

These are the photos I took 2 weeks ago, during my recent Yosemite Trips. On this particular night, we were the only ones on the Swing Bridge, the snow was falling on and off, it was around 9:00pm, there weren 't another soul in the darkness except the rumbling of Upper Yosemite Fall.

I set up my camera for an 8-minutes long exposure, the faint glow behind the trees were the lights from Yosemite Village, when I checked the screen, I could see the faint details of the granite rocks.

Here are the 2 versions:

1 The color version.

2 The Black & White version.

I like the uniqueness of the color version, yet the Black White version has that classic Yosemite look.

Your comments and critiques are welcome.

The B&W really pulls out the details in areas where the color version falls off. Most notable in the upper parts of the trees both above the river as well as the reflections. You almost can't tell just how dark it is with the B&W version.

The B&W is nice, but the color wins it for me Oliver. The B&W loses that bit of light in the center that the color shows.

\\Thanks Alan, yes, that's the power of black white which brings out more details, especially the details, right now, the Merced river level is high all the way up to the bank. the 8 min exposure brings out more details than I expected,.

They're both really nice. I'm with Jim in that the bit of light coming through the trees is lost in the B&W. Awfully close, pretty much a toss up between the two.
